Course Curriculum

What will you learn?

Grammar – A flexible approach is followed to transfer a better understanding of the grammatical aspects. Students learn the differences in the construction of sentences through comparison. A broader explanation through presentations, followed by exercises and revision of the grammatical structures helps them improve their ability to focus on other modules, namely, writing, speaking, reading and listening.

Writing – Students will learn to write about themselves and fill up forms in German language. They will learn to describe their family, home, their routines, day-to-day chores, festivals, vacations etc, both in present as well as in past tense. Basic introduction to the writing skills includes email writing (30 words maximum) on different situations such as invitation, apology, leave applications, planning both formal and informal.

Speaking – Students learn various aspects of phonetics. Emphasis is on the pronunciation and intonation techniques and accent building. Students learn to speak about themselves, other languages and countries. They learn to formulate questions, requests, learn to lead basic conversations in various situations, both telephonic and personal.

Reading – The students are introduced to small texts from the beginning to develop reading skills. For this, various visual techniques are included to support their abilities to comprehend the context in the German language. The students learn to understand various reading comprehensive texts such as short messages, notices, small advertisements, emails etc.

Listening – The students are encouraged to speak and record their voices to develop listening abilities. Specialized attention will be paid on the familiarization with accents. The students will learn to comprehend official announcements, basic telephonic or personal conversations. Each class includes a listening exercise using audio-video support. The candidate will practice learning with audio files in the same format as used in the test.

What we cover in the course?

  • We follow the curriculum designed to correspond both essential aspects of German culture and civilisation as well as important structures necessary to develop thinking strategies in the language. Main course topics include daily routine, health, my family, my home, holidays, vacations, events like festivals, birthdays etc.
  • The curriculum essentially includes: Completion of the book, Preparation of the internationally recognised examination through mock-tests. For this, we include various resources such as books, worksheets, online material, quizzes, web series followed by questions.
  • We believe in encouraging students to focus on day- today activities and build vocabulary around them through brainstorming sessions, followed by interactions to motivate them to speak.

What will you learn?

Few overview sessions (1-3) are provided to revise the important grammatical structures covered in the A1 coursework. The A2- level oriented grammatical topics aim to polish the language skills and sentence structures. In addition, they improve the ability to focus on other modules, namely, writing, speaking, reading and listening.

Writing – Students will learn to have a better command over the language They will learn to describe their school time, social network, their problems, desires, festivals, vacations etc, both in present as well as in past tense.The basic writing skills with reference to both the course work as well as the examination format focuses on SMS writing and Email writing.

Speaking – Students focus on intensive mind mapping techniques to refresh the vocabulary on various themes covered in A1. Emphasis is on both pronunciation and intonation techniques as well as communication skills. Students learn to speak about their emotions and their opinions. They learn to lead short presentations on various topics for example, hobbies, pocket money, pets, sports, family. In addition, they are able to plan meetings, or events through short conversations.

Reading – The students are already competent to understand small texts and develop their reading skills to contextualize short articles, essays. The grammatical structures support the understanding of the language and students learn to implement the same while reading. For this, comprehensive training is provided through online material and reading comprehensions to support their abilities.

Listening – The students are encouraged to speak and record their voices to develop listening abilities from the A1 level. A revision of phonetics and accent is provided to focus on the next level.The vocabulary training on various themes build basis to understand shorter telephonic conversations, important information and even to complete information if required. Each class includes a listening exercise using audio-video support. The candidate will practice learning with audio files in the same format as used in the test.

The course aims to focus on three aspects: to learn, to practice and to interact. The course offers:
Completion of the coursework: Intermediate (B1) German language:

  •  You will be able to understand and converse about most topics.
  •  The learning process aims to develop recognition of the minor grammatical errors and learning through them.
  •  You will be able to talk about everyday life and curve balls.
  •  You will be able to talk about your aspirations and plans.

Preparation of the examination: Start Deutsch

  • The Goethe-Zertifikat (Certificate) B1 certifies that candidates have acquired intermediate level language skills and corresponds to the third level (B1) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

What will you learn?

Grammar – The jump to the second level (from A to B) includes introduction to various new grammatical topics as well as revision of the previous level. The students learn these grammatical structures to enhance the speaking and writing skills. A broader approach is followed to transfer a better understanding, which includes presentations, videos and quizzes. Few overview sessions are provided to revise the important grammatical structures covered in the A2 level. In addition, they improve the ability to focus on other modules, namely: writing, speaking, reading and listening.

Writing – Students are able to describe various experiences, events. The basic writing skills with reference to both the course work as well as the examination format focuses on Email writing, describing one’s opinion on various themes and justify or explain his or her own thought views.

Speaking –  Students focuses on intensive Mind mapping techniques to refresh the vocabulary on various themes covered in A2. Emphasis is on both thinking techniques as well as communication skills to express one’s thoughts. They learn to lead presentations describing the pros and cons, the cultural highlights along with their opinions on it. In addition, they are able to plan meetings, discuss various events, can debate about various topics or events through conversations. The important themes are: clichés, art, environment, education, lifestyle & Life in the cities, milestones, workaday world, relationships etc.

Reading – The students are become competent to understand complex texts and develop their reading skills to contextualize articles, essays. The grammatical structures support the understanding of the language and students learn to implement the same while reading. For this, comprehensive training is provided through online material and reading comprehensions to support their abilities.

Listening – The students learn to understand main points of the conversations, announcements, and interviews, when clear stand language is used. They learn to judge and analyse the context of various themes discussed. The focus is on familiar topics such as work, relationships, money, weather, feelings. The vocabulary training on various themes build basis to do. Each class includes a listening exercise using audio-video support. The candidate will practice learning with audio files in the same format as used in the test.

We have German programs for various levels, ranging from beginners to advanced (levels as defined by the Common European Reference Framework: A = elementary, B = intermediate, C = advanced). Choose your certification

After completing your course with us, you will get an Edusky Deutschlernen certificate. Our certificate documents your level of German on the European Framework scale A1 – C2 and is free of charge. However, this certificate is only a program completion certificate and has no worldwide recognition. If you want that, we recommend an official German language certificate like Goethe Zertifikat, telc, TestDaF or DSH depending upon your future goals.

Your questions answered

Learning German takes approximately 600 hours of lessons to reach a B2 level in German. The time will vary depending on the motivation of the study and also on the other factors. Totally 600 classroom hours are required to learn enough German by the Indians equating to reach B2 level. So for an Indian, it takes 22 – 25 weeks to reach a good level of German proficiency. However, keep in mind that language learning is a continuous process that requires ongoing practice and effort even after you’ve reached a certain level of proficiency.

After completion of each level, you will be provided a “Course Completion Certificate” from Edusky Deutschlernen, for the corresponding level. However, in order to establish your language proficiency for a university / organisation, you might need to take a recognised certificate exam e.g. Goethe Institut, TestDAF etc.
